In this revision, refractory ceramic fibre products are classified according to the principles of EN 10943:2003, Insulating refractory products—Part 3: Classification of insulating products made from ceramic fibres. This standard replaces GB/T 3003—1982 (Ordinary alumino-silicate refractory fiber felts) in whole. In addition to editorial changes, the following major technical modifications have been made: - The name of the standard has been modified; - Normative references have been added; - Product varieties have been expanded, including refractory bulk ceramic fibres, ceramic fibre felts, blankets and modules, boards and pre-formed rigid ceramic fibre shapes, papers, yarns, cloths, tapes, twisted ropes and braided ropes; - New classification and marking methods have been introduced; - Quality appraisal procedures are conducted according to product classification rules; - Appendixes A and B are normative. This standard was proposed and prepared by SAC/TC 193 Technical Committee on Refractories of the Standardization Administration of China. The previous edition of this standard is GB/T 3003—1982. Introduction Refractory ceramic fibres and their products are used more and more widely. Fibre varieties keep increasing, and new refractory ceramic fibres of various chemical compositions have been successfully developed. Naming and appraising refractory ceramic fibre products have become increasingly important in standardization and industrial applications.
