This standard is formulated for the first time based on toxicological experiments, on-site labor hygiene surveys and epidemiological survey data, and with reference to foreign occupational exposure limits. It is a hygienic standard used for workplace environmental monitoring and health supervision. This standard shall be implemented from December 1, 1998. Appendix A of this standard is the appendix to the standard.
This standard is proposed and coordinated by the Ministry of Health.
This standard was drafted by Dalian Institute of Labor Hygiene, Harbin Medical University, and Dalian Chemical Industry Company. The main drafters of this standard are Ma Xiaohong, Wen Tao, Wang Ziyuan, Niu Qiong, and Yan Chengze. This standard specifies the maximum allowable concentration and time-weighted average allowable concentration of sodium carbonate in the air of workplace and its monitoring and inspection methods. This standard is applicable to all types of enterprises that produce and use sodium carbonate. Hygienic requirements
The maximum allowable concentration of sodium carbonate in the air of workplace is 6mg/m3, and the time-weighted average allowable concentration is 3mg/m3. 3 Monitoring and inspection methods
The monitoring and inspection methods of this standard adopt the acid-base titration method, see Appendix A (Appendix to the standard). Approved by the State Administration of Technical Supervision on November 11, 1997 and implemented on December 1, 1998

Acid-base titration method for sodium carbonate in workshop air Sodium carbonate in the air is collected with perchloroethylene filter membrane, eluted with water, and titrated to the end point with methyl orange as indicator and hydrochloric acid standard solution, and the content of sodium carbonate is calculated.
A2 Instrument
Dust sampling clip or aluminum alloy sampling clip.
A2.2 Perchloroethylene filter membrane.
A2.3 Dust sampler, flow rate 0~30L/min. A2.4 Burette, 2mL.
Conical flask, 100mL.
A3 Reagents
A3.1 The water used in this method is distilled water. Hydrochloric acid standard solution 0.0100 mol/L. 1 mL of this solution is equivalent to (sodium carbonate) (Na2CO) 0.53 mg.
A3.2 Methyl orange solution 1 g/L.
A4 Sampling
Install the perchloroethylene filter membrane in the sampling clip and collect 200L of air at a flow rate of 25E/min. A5 Analysis steps
A5.1 Control test: Take the sampling clip with the filter membrane installed to the sampling point. Except for not collecting air, the rest of the operations are the same as the sample as the blank control of the sample.
A5.2 Sample treatment: Put the perchloroethylene filter membrane in a 50mL beaker, add 10mL of water and stir continuously for 10min to dissolve the sodium carbonate in the water; pour the solution into a conical flask, and wash the filter membrane and beaker twice with 10 mL of water, and pour the washing liquid into the conical flask together. A5.3 Determination: Add 1 drop of methyl orange indicator to the sample solution, carefully titrate with hydrochloric acid standard solution until orange just appears, and record the amount used. At the same time, take 20mL of water as a blank for titration. A6 Calculation

A7.1 The detection limit of this method is 42.4μg/20mL; the minimum detection concentration is 0.21mg/m3 (collecting 200L of air).
