This standard specifies the classification and codes of Chinese plants. This standard is applicable to the exchange and processing of plant information in various sectors of the national economy. 2 Classification principles
GB/T 14467-93
This standard takes the essential attributes and characteristics of plants as the main basis for classification, while also taking into account traditional classification habits and actual usage requirements.
3 Coding method
This standard adopts a hierarchical coding method. Each complete code consists of ten or twelve Arabic numerals and is divided into four layers. Its structure is shown in the figure below:
3.1 Family code

Species code
Genus code
The first layer is the family code, which consists of three digits. The first digit indicates the first class of the plant, and the third digit is the sequence number. The classification number is assigned as follows:
1. Indicates phytophytes? 2. Indicates mosses? 3. Indicates phytophytes: 4. Indicates gymnosperms: 5 and 6 indicate dicotyledonous lycophytes; 7. Indicates dicotyledonous synapomorpha; 9. Indicates monocotyledons; 0 and 8 are used for future expansion. 3.2 Genus code
The second level is the genus code, which also consists of three digits. The genera under the same family are coded in alphabetical order. 3.3 Species code
The third level is the species code, which consists of four digits. The species under the same genus are coded in alphabetical order. The species code of the variant under the species is the same as the original species code.
3.4 Infraspecific unit code

The fourth level is the infraspecific unit code, which consists of two digits. The infraspecific units under the same species are also coded in alphabetical order. 3.5 Prefix symbol regulations
The plant name code may not list all codes, but only the family, genus, species or the code below the species can be used separately. When using it, add a prefix, and the prefix regulations are as follows: "F\ represents family, G\ represents genus, "S\ represents species, and "V\ represents infraspecific classification unit. When using it with a prefix, the meaningless "0\ can be cancelled.
