This standard describes the procedure for measuring and evaluating the external mechanical vibration characteristics of the generator set at specified measurement points. This standard applies to fixed and mobile rigidly and/or elastically mounted AC generator sets driven by reciprocating internal combustion engines. This standard applies to land and marine generator sets, not to aviation or generator sets driving land vehicles and locomotives. General Introduction to Dynamic Evaluation of Generator Sets

It is well known that the vibration values of the motor when it is running in a generator set are much higher than the values when it is running alone. The typical characteristics of a natural gas machine are that it has a complex and oscillating mass, which is related to the working direction. Therefore, the generator set has a large alternating work, and the vibration values are much higher than those of a rotating machine. However, due to the influence of the generator set structure, these vibration values tend to remain constant during the life of the engine. By partially defining the vibration variables, we can make a general description of the vibration characteristics of the generator set and make a positive evaluation of the interaction between the performance characteristics of the unit. However, it is not possible to use fixed vibration values to evaluate the vibration characteristics of the generator set. The effect of the initial disturbance stress of the fixed moving parts of the machine cannot be determined more strictly. The degree of torsion and linear dynamic support of the shaft system (potential) cannot be determined. In the generator, it is impossible to accurately evaluate the machine stress reduction by the same frequency. If the dynamic level exceeds a certain "usual value" of the generator set, the main parts in the generator set will be damaged by excessive vibration. If the whole "pass belt evaluation" is not performed, the damage of other parts and connecting parts of the generator set, control and monitoring equipment, etc. will also occur. The stability of these parts depends on their suspension structure and installation method.
