This code is applicable not only to the design of ash dams of valley ash yards that employ hydraulic ash handling technique, butalso to the design of ash embankments in ash yards on the beaches ofrivers, lakes and sea(hereinafter referred to as beach ash yard)andash yards on plains. It is not applicable to the design of dry-type ashstorage yards
The provisions specified herein for ash dams are also applicable to ash embankments, unless specifically prescribed otherwise.

This code is a revision toDL/T50451995Technical RulesforDesignofAshandSlagDammingofFossilFuelPowerPlantsbasedon therequirement of the NoticeonIssuance ofPlanforSupplementingElectric Power IndustryStandard2003 issuedbytheGeneral Office of National Development and Reform Commission(FGBGY[2003]873)andisrenamedtheCodeforDesignofAshandSlagDammingofFossilFuelPowerPlants.This code has played a positive role in accelerating the powerconstruction and enhancing the design level and technical standard ofashand slagdammingsince itspromulgationin1995.Asnewrequirements have come out for the design of ash and slag dammingin fossil fuel power plants with the deepening of reforms andtechnical progress in power industry,this code is to be revisedaccordingly.
