Determination of Volatile Matter of Color Forming Agents
1 Subject Content and Scope of Application
This standard specifies the method for determining the volatile matter of color forming agents by the oven method. This standard is applicable to color forming agents used in the production of color films, color films and color photographic papers. 2 Method Summary
At a specified temperature, allow volatile substances in a sample of known mass to escape until constant weight is achieved. 3 Instruments or Equipment
3.1 Oven: accuracy of ±2°C,
3.2 Weighing bottle: diameter 55mm, height 35mm or diameter 80mm, height 30mm, 3.3 Balance: sensitivity 0.1mg
3.4 Desiccator: filled with color-changing silica gel or anhydrous calcium chloride. 4 Determination method

Weigh 1g of sample in a constant-weight weighing bottle, accurate to 0.1mg. Put it in an oven and dry it at a specified temperature to constant weight (about 4h). The measurement temperature is generally 105℃. For low-melting-point colorants, the measurement temperature should be 20℃ lower than its melting point. Calculation of measurement results
The mass percentage X of volatile matter is calculated as follows: X
Where: m——the mass of the weighing bottle plus the sample before drying, g; m2—the mass of the weighing bottle plus the sample after drying, g; the mass of the weighing bottle, g.
Measure three times in parallel, the range should not be greater than ±0.04%, and the result is averaged. Approved by the Ministry of Chemical Industry of the People's Republic of China on December 28, 199112
