Some standard content:

GB5768·1999
This standard is a revision of GB5768:86 "Road Traffic Signs and Markings". The applicable parts of the original standard are retained. Based on the summary of our experience in designing, implementing, constructing and testing traffic signs and markings, the number of warning signs, prohibition signs and instruction signs has been increased according to the development of sign and marking technology at home and abroad and the needs of traffic management, and further convergence with international standards has been achieved. For general road signposts, the number of approach signs has been newly designed, and location identification signs, lane avoidance signs and notice boards have been added: signs of overpasses, underground passages, detours, and closed roads have been added on urban roads. Signposts for commercial highways are added in response to the problems found in the design, implementation and management in recent years and the new regulations of foreign signs and markings, such as creeping lane signs. Vehicle distance confirmation signs, road traffic information signs, and safety signs and facilities for tourist area crossing roads. Road traffic markings are classified according to their functions, setting methods and marking types, and stricter regulations are imposed on the color and marking methods of the markings. Many new markings have been added.
This standard is a mandatory standard. The color, shape and characters of the signs must be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this standard. The rules of the color, line assignment, prohibition, restriction and other regulations of the road traffic markings must be strictly followed. This standard replaces GB5768-86 from the date of implementation. All newly set signs and markings should be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this standard. The markings that have been set according to the old standards should be gradually replaced within their service life. Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix G in this standard are standard appendices. Appendix E, Appendix F, Appendix H, Appendix I, Appendix J, Appendix K, Appendix 1 in this standard are informative appendices. This standard was issued by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China and proposed by the Ministry of Public Security. This standard is under the National Technical Committee for Highway Standardization of Traffic Engineering Facilities. The operating unit of this standard is the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. The main drafters of this standard are: Yang Jiuling, Tang Jingqi, Jia Mei, Di Zhibin, Liu Huixue, Huang Lixin, Li Yixin, He Jian, Xue Ning
This standard was first issued in 1986 and revised for the first time in 1999. The Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Communications is entrusted with the interpretation of this standard. 1 Scope

3 General provisions
3.1 Road traffic signs are facilities used to manage traffic by conveying specific information to traffic participants using graphic symbols, colors and text. 3.2 The shape, pattern, size, setting, construction, reflection and lighting of road traffic signs and their production must be specified and carried out in accordance with this standard.
3.3 The color specification of road traffic signs shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of GB/T8416, see Appendix A (Appendix to the standard). 3.4: The words on road traffic signs should be written in a standard, correct and neat manner. According to the requirements, Chinese characters and other words can be used together. When Chinese and English are used on the signs, the place names are written in Wenyu Pinyin, and the special nouns are written in English. 3.5. The outer edge of the border of the road crossing sign should have a background color. The background color is stipulated as follows: warning signs are yellow, prohibition signs, instruction signs are blue, and the signposts on expressways and urban expressways are green. The signposts on other roads are blue. 4 Classification of traffic signs
Traffic signs are divided into two categories: taxi signs and auxiliary signs. 4.1 Signs
