3 Terminology
Shear load: The maximum shear load that the spot weld of the specimen bears before fracture, expressed in P, (N). 3.1#
4 Sample cutting
The preparation of the test piece shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 3 of GB2649. The sample can be cut from the welded test piece perpendicular to the weld axis. After machining, the weld axis should be located at the center of the parallel length of the sample. 4.2#
4.3 The location, method and number of sample cutting shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 4 of GB2649. 5 Test pieces and their preparation
5.1 Each test piece shall be marked to identify its exact position in the cut test piece. 5.2 The test piece shall be prepared by machining or grinding, and attention shall be paid to prevent surface strain hardening or material overheating. There shall be no transverse knife marks or scratches on the surface within the test length/range. 5.3 If there is no provision in the relevant standards or product technical conditions, the weld excess height shall be removed by mechanical methods on the surface of the test piece to make it flush with the original surface of the parent material.
5.4 The shapes of the joint tensile test pieces are divided into three types: plate, whole tube and round. It should be selected according to the test requirements. 5.5 Plate joints should use the shouldered plate specimens shown in Figure 1 and Table 1. Pipe joints should use the longitudinal plate specimens shown in Figure 2 and Table 1. Usually, the specimen thickness a should be the thickness of the welded joint specimen. If the specimen thickness exceeds 30mm, several specimens can be taken from different thickness areas of the joint to replace the single specimen of the full thickness of the joint, but the thickness of each specimen should not be less than 30mm, and the specimens taken should cover the entire thickness of the joint (see Table 4 of GB2649). In this case, the position of the specimen in the thickness of the welded specimen should be indicated. Approved by the State Administration of Technical Supervision on May 8, 1989 26

5.6 For pipe joints with an outer diameter less than or equal to 38 mm, take the whole pipe tensile test specimen as shown in Figure 3 and Table 1. In order to make the test go smoothly, a plug can be made to facilitate clamping.
5.7 For bar joints, use the circular test specimen shown in Figure 4 and Table 2. For short-time high temperature joints, use the test specimen shown in Figure 5 and Table 2. 5.8 The shape and size of the shear test specimen for spot welded joints shall comply with the requirements of Figure 6 and Table 3.

6 Test and result record

6.1 The test instruments, specimen size determination, test conditions and performance evaluation involved in the test shall comply with the provisions of GB228 and GB4338.
6.2 According to the test requirements, the test results can be used to determine the tensile strength α or the shear load P. 6.3 The test results shall be evaluated according to the corresponding standards or product technical conditions. 6.4 The test report shall record the following contents:
Type and location of the specimen:
Tensile strength or shear load value after the specimen is broken, b.
Type and number of defects at the fracture site after the specimen is broken; fracture site of the specimen (macro-corrosion of the specimen surface may be performed to assist inspection if necessary). Additional remarks:
