This standard is revised on the basis of GB/T788—1987 book and magazine format and size. The main revision is to remove the non-standard format part in the appendix of the original standard. This standard is not equivalent to ISO6716:1983 Printing Technology—Textbooks and Magazines—Sizes of Uncut Single Sheets and Cut Single Pages. In view of the domestic paper production situation, the base paper sizes included in this standard are less than those in ISO 6716.1983. From the date of implementation, this standard will replace GB/T788—1987. This standard is proposed by the Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee. The drafting unit of this standard is the Barcode Center of the Press and Publication Administration. The main drafter of this standard is Zhang Zhenwei.

2.1 AB in the standard represents the code of the ten series of format sizes. 2.2 The number after the A and B codes indicates the number of cuts to the long side of the whole sheet of paper after folding it in half. For example, A4 means that the whole sheet of paper is folded in half with the long side four times and cut into 16-page; A5 means that the whole sheet of paper is folded in half with the long side five times and cut into 32-page F. 2.3 The M after the uncut single sheet size in Table 1 indicates that the thread direction of the paper is parallel to the size. 3 Book and magazine size and format size
