This standard is a revision of JB/T7989-95 (formerly GB6407-86) based on the rapid development of the domestic artificial diamond industry. According to the implementation of the standard in recent years, with reference to relevant test reports, and based on the actual test results of domestic and foreign samples, some clauses and contents have been removed and revised, and impact toughness test items and index requirements have been added. This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and acceptance rules for artificial diamonds. This standard specifies the particle size composition, impact toughness, compressive strength, bulk density, impurity content, inspection methods and acceptance rules for artificial diamond.
This standard is applicable to the static pressure synthesis of single crystal artificial diamond for the manufacture of abrasive tools and drilling and sawing tools. 2 Referenced Standards

The variety code of artificial diamond shall comply with the provisions of GB/T6405. 4 Technical requirements
4.1 Grain size composition
The grain size composition shall comply with the provisions of GB/T6406. 4.2 Impact toughness
Impact toughness is characterized by the number of half-crushing times, and its value shall not be lower than that specified in Table 1. 4.3 Compressive strength
4.3.1 The average compressive strength shall not be less than that specified in Table 2. 4.3.2 The number of particles with compressive strength values lower than half of the specified average shall not be more than 15%. 4.3.3 The number of particles with compressive strength values higher than the specified average shall not be less than 50%. 4.4 Bulk density
The bulk density of each grade shall meet the following requirements: RVD shall not be less than 1.35 g/cm\;
MBD shall not be less than 1.95 g/cm,
SMD shall not be less than 2.00 g/cm.

4.5 Impurity content
The impurity content shall conform to the following provisions:
JB/T7989--1997
For particle size of 120/140 and coarser, the impurity content shall not exceed 0.5% (particle percentage); for particle size of 140/170 and finer, the impurity content shall not exceed 1.0% (particle percentage). 5 Test methods
The particle size composition shall be tested in accordance with GB/T6406. 5.1
5.2 The impact toughness shall be tested in accordance with JB/T6571. 5.3 The compressive strength shall be tested in accordance with JB/T7988.1. The carbide indenter and gasket are made of YG6X, with a hardness of not less than 91HRA, and the surface roughness:
The test particle size 70/80 and its coarser is Ra not more than 0.80μm The test particle size 80/100 and its finer is Ra not more than 0.20μm5.4 The bulk density shall be tested in accordance with JB/T3584. The impurity content shall be tested in accordance with JB/T7988.2. 5.5
6 Acceptance rules
Each batch of products shall be inspected and accepted in accordance with technical requirements, and a certificate of conformity shall be attached. 6.2 Each batch of products should first be tested for particle size composition, and then the remaining items should be inspected and accepted after passing the test.
