3 Definition
GB4976-85
3.1 Positive displacement compressor: A compressor that sequentially draws a certain volume of gas into and out of a closed space to increase static pressure through the displacement of moving parts.
Note: Compression may or may not be internal compression. If it is internal compression, the pressure ratio may be fixed or variable. 3.1.1 Shaft-driven reciprocating compressor: A positive displacement compressor that achieves gas suction and compression by causing the moving parts to make reciprocating linear motion in the compression chamber due to the rotation of the shaft. 3.1.2 Rotary compressor; A positive displacement compressor whose moving parts are one or more rotors moving in a cylinder. The displacement volume is achieved by the movement of the vanes, one or more meshing parts, components, or the rotor itself. 3.2 Dynamic compressor: A compressor that increases the pressure of the gas by converting its kinetic energy into potential energy as the gas flows continuously from the inlet to the outlet.
3.2.1 Turbine compressor: A dynamic compressor with rotating blades, impellers or wheels. Note: Turbine compressors with effective exhaust pressures below 2×105Pa (2bar) are usually called "turbo blowers". 3.2.1.1 Axial flow turbine compressor: A turbine compressor that converts kinetic energy in a rotating impeller and diffuser with blades installed in a basically axial flow.
3.2.1.2 Radial flow turbine compressor or centrifugal compressor: A turbine compressor that converts kinetic energy in an impeller and diffuser with a basically radial flow.
Note: There are also mixed-flow turbine compressors (in which the gas flows in a direction between the axial and radial directions) and combined turbine compressors 3.2.2 Ejectors: Dynamic compressors that have no moving elements and achieve compression by converting the kinetic energy of the auxiliary fluid.
