This standard is equivalent to the tensile test part of Japanese Industrial Standard JIS K6323:1995 "Ordinary V-belts for General Transmission". This standard has revised GB/T3686--1983 "Test Method for Tensile Properties of Full Section of V-Belts", changing the test speed from 100mm/min in the original standard to 50mm/min, and the gauge length for measuring elongation from 200mm in the original standard to 100mm. This standard replaces GB/T3686-1983 from the date of implementation. This standard is proposed by the Ministry of Chemical Industry of the People's Republic of China. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Chemical Industry's Belt Standardization Technology Management Unit. The drafting units of this standard are: Qingdao Rubber Industry Research Institute, Henan Weishi County Rubber Factory, Ningbo Synchronous Belt General Factory, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Third Transportation Company Rubber Factory.
The main drafters of this standard are: Han Deshen, Liu Xiaoli, Lin Qifu, and Wang Daming. This standard was first issued in May 1983.

V-belts-Tensile strength and elongation test method
GB/T 3686—1998
GB/T3686—1983
This standard specifies the test method for the full-section tensile strength, reference force elongation and elongation at break of V-belts. This standard is applicable to all kinds of V-belts.
2 Referenced standards
The provisions contained in the following standards constitute the provisions of this standard through reference in this standard. When this standard is published, the versions shown are valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties using this standard should explore the possibility of using the latest versions of the following standards. HG/T2369—1992 Technical conditions for rubber and plastic tensile testing machines 3 Loading
3.1 The tensile testing machine used in the test shall comply with the requirements of HG/T2369. 3.2 The clamp shall ensure that the specimen is well fixed, and neither slipping nor clamping occurs during the entire test. 3.3 When reading or recording the tensile value, the error shall not be greater than 2%. 3.4 The force required to break the specimen shall not be less than 15% of the range and not more than 85% of the range. 3.5 The moving speed of the clamp shall be 50mm/min±10%. 4 Specimen
4.1 The specimen is a full-section V-belt with a length of more than 250mm. 4.2 The number of specimens is three, taken from one sample belt. If the short belt of the three specimens cannot be removed, two shall be taken, but this shall be noted in the test report.
4.3 Mark two marking lines for measuring elongation on the specimen, and the distance between the marking lines (referred to as gauge length) is 100mm. 4.4 The specimen shall be kept at the test temperature (23℃±2℃) for more than 24h before testing. 4.5 For C, D and E type belts, if necessary, the rubber around the belt core of the specimen clamping part can be cut off before testing. 5 Procedure
5.1 Clamp the two ends of the specimen on the two clamps of the testing machine respectively, and the longitudinal center line of the specimen is consistent with the direction of the force line. 5.2 Continuously stretch the specimen at a speed of 50 mm/min. 5.3 When the tensile force increases to the reference force, that is, when the fracture occurs, record the tensile force and gauge length at that moment respectively. 5.4 If the specimen breaks in the clamping part, an additional specimen shall be added for re-testing. Approved by the State Administration of Quality and Technical Supervision on October 19, 1998, 28
Implementation on April 1, 1999
Explanation of results
GB/T 3686—1998
The test results include tensile strength and elongation at reference force or elongation at break. The reference force elongation or elongation at break is calculated as follows: 6.2
Wu Zhong: r—
reference force elongation or elongation at break, %, - initial gauge length of the specimen, mm;
gauge length when the tensile force increases to the reference force or the specimen breaks, mm. L
6.3 Each test result is expressed as the arithmetic mean calculated from three specimens, accurate to the next lowest digit of the specified value. The test results of short strips from which only two specimens can be taken are expressed as the arithmetic mean of the two specimens. Test report
The test report contains the following contents:
a) the number of the standard on which the test is based,
b) the type, specification, batch number and manufacturing unit of the test strip; c) the test results of tensile strength and elongation, d) the storage time and the temperature of the test room;
e) the tester and the test date.
