This standard is formulated based on ISO2400:1972 "Comparison Standard Test Blocks for Instrument Calibration for Ultrasonic Testing of Steel Welds", and is equivalent to the international standard in terms of technical content.
There are two minor changes in the editing of this standard: In view of the fact that GB6349-86 "Method for Determination of Average Metal Grain" is consistent with the Mequaid grain size assessment in ISO24001972, it is changed to GB6394-86 when cited in this standard; secondly, the surface roughness expression method is unified according to the national standard.
This standard shall be implemented from July 1, 1997. This standard is proposed and managed by the National Technical Committee for Nondestructive Testing Standardization. The drafting units of this standard: Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society Nondestructive Testing Professional Committee, Shanghai Heavy Machinery Factory The main drafting units of this standard: Shantou Ultrasonic Instrument Research Institute. This standard specifies the characteristics of comparison test blocks for calibrating instruments for ultrasonic testing of steel welds. 2 Characteristics
2.1 Materials

The pot used to make this test block shall have the following characteristics: low carbon steel smelted in an open hearth or electric furnace, normalized state, grain size conforming to Grade 5 or finer specified in GB6394-86 "Method for Determination of Average Grain Size of Metals". 2.2 Dimensions
The dimensions of this test block are shown in Figure 1, and the permissible deviation of the dimensions is ±0.1mm.

The permissible deviation of all dimensions is ±0.1mm
