Summary:

This standard specifies the principles of design, construction, maintenance and safety for cold insulation of equipment and pipelines below room temperature. This standard applies to the cold insulation of equipment, pipelines and their accessories and related instruments in general industrial sectors with an outer surface temperature below room temperature to -196°C. This standard does not apply to cold insulation of buildings and cold storage, nor to national defense and scientific research and certain cold insulation with special requirements.
