Summary:
This standard specifies the mechanical properties of nuts with guaranteed load values when tested at an ambient temperature of 10 to 35°C. Products judged to comply with this standard under this ambient temperature may have different mechanical and physical properties at higher or lower temperatures, and users should pay attention to this. This standard applies to nuts with: nominal thread diameter D = 8 to 39 mm (fine pitch thread); ordinary thread (fine pitch thread) in accordance with GB/T 192; fine pitch thread diameter and pitch combination in accordance with GB/T 193; basic dimensions in accordance with GB/T 196; tolerances and fits in accordance with GB/T 197; specific mechanical requirements; width across flats in accordance with GB/T 3104 or equivalent; nominal height ≥ 0.5D; made of carbon steel or alloy steel. This standard does not apply to nuts with special performance requirements, such as: locking performance (GB/T 3098.15); weldability; corrosion resistance (GB/T 3098.15); performance requirements for working temperatures above 300°C or below -50°C. This standard is a revision of GB/T3098.4—1986. The main revisions are as follows:
a) The name of the standard is changed to "Mechanical properties of fasteners - fine thread nuts";
b) Only the mechanical properties tested under ambient temperature of 10~35℃ are specified. At higher or lower temperatures, its mechanical and physical properties may be different (Chapter 1);
c) Add 5-grade nuts (Table 2, Table 4 to Table 6 and Table 8); d) Adjust some guaranteed load values (Table 6); e) Add reference to Brinell, Rockwell and Vickers hardness conversion tables (Article 8.2); f) Add surface defect tests (Article 8.3); g) For products that must be marked with performance grades, it is mandatory to mark the manufacturer's trademark or identification mark, which should be provided as much as possible as long as it is technically feasible. However, in any case, the packaging should be marked (Article 9.5). This standard replaces GB/T3098.4-1986 from the date of implementation.
This standard is proposed by the State Machinery Industry Bureau. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee. This standard is under the responsibility of the Mechanical Science Research Institute, and Xi'an Standard Parts General Factory, Beijing Standard Parts Industry Group Corporation, Shanghai Fastener Welding Material Technology Research Institute, Wuhan Automobile Standard Parts Research Institute and Shenzhen Aviation Standard Parts Co., Ltd. participated in the drafting.
This standard is interpreted by the Secretariat of the National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee.
ISO Foreword
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The development of international standards is usually carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body can also participate in the committee if it is interested in the items carried out by a technical committee. Governmental and non-governmental international organizations related to ISO may also participate in this work. ISO has close ties with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in electrotechnical standardization. 14—4 - 2
Draft international standards adopted by technical committees are circulated to all member bodies for voting. The formal publication of international standards requires at least 75% of the member bodies to vote in favor.
International Standard ISO 898-6 Developed by ISO/TC 2 Fastener Technical Committee SC1 Fastener Mechanical Properties Subcommittee The second edition has deleted and supplemented the first edition (ISO898-6:1988) and is a technical revision.
ISO898 is generally called "Mechanical properties of fasteners", which includes the following parts:
--Part 1: Bolts, screws and studs---Part 2: Nuts with specified proof load values, coarse pitch screws
--Part 5: Set screws and similar threaded fasteners not subject to tensile stress
--Part 6: Nuts with specified proof load values, fine pitch screws
Part 7: Torque test and minimum torque range for bolts and screws with nominal diameters of 1 to 10 mm

fine pitch thread diameter and pitch combination specified in GB/T193;
basic dimensions specified in GB/T196;
tolerances and fits specified in GB/T197; with specific mechanical requirements:
width across flats in accordance with GB/T3104 or equivalent; nominal height ≥0.5D;
made of carbon steel or alloy steel.
This standard does not apply to nuts with special performance requirements, such as: locking performance (GB/T3098.9);
weldability;
corrosion resistance (GB/T3098.15);
performance requirements for working temperatures above +300℃ or below 50℃.
1. Nuts made of free-cutting steel cannot be used above +250C. 2. In the case of other tolerances or greater than 6H, the tripping strength should be reduced, see Table 1.
