This standard specifies the test method for determining the ignition temperature of plastics, which is one of the methods for evaluating the combustion performance of materials. The results of this test are only applicable to relative comparisons between materials and cannot be used as the basis for evaluating the safety temperature and combustion hazard under actual use conditions.
Ignition temperature: Under the specified test conditions, the lowest temperature at which the combustible gas released from the material is ignited by an external flame and burns for a certain period of time.
2 Sample preparation
The sample needs to be crushed and sieved to make a sample with a particle size of 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Note: When some thermoplastics are crushed, they can be combined with solid CO (dry ball) to facilitate crushing. 3 Test equipment
3.1. Molybdenum or copper ingot furnace and stainless steel container, as shown in the figure. 3.1.1 A cylindrical ingot furnace with a diameter of 100 mm and a height of 100 mm. It has a thermometer, temperature control elements and several container sockets. 3.1.2 The ingot furnace is equipped with electric heating and a constant temperature control system, so that the ingot furnace can be kept constant at any temperature between 150 and 450°C, with an allowable error of +2°C.
3.1.8 Stainless steel container, a cylinder with an inner diameter of 9 mm, a height of 48 mm, and a wall thickness of 1 mm. It has a cover with a nozzle of 10 mm in length and an inner diameter of 1.5 mm.
3.1.4 The matching tolerance of the cover, container and ingot furnace is ±0.1 mm. Issued by the National Bureau of Standards on July 30, 1984
Implemented on May 1, 1985
3.2 Other equipment.
GB4610--84
3.2.1 Ignitor, nozzle with inner diameter of about 0.8 mm. Pass combustible gas, ignite, when the nozzle is facing upward, the flame height is about 10~15 mm.
8.2.2 Thermometer.
3.2.3 Sample crushing device.
3.2.4 Stopwatch.
3.2.5 Frame drug balance, sensitivity 0.1 g. 3.2.6 Ventilation device. In order to eliminate the toxic fumes generated during the test, the test should be carried out in a fume hood. However, the ventilation system should be turned off during the test to avoid affecting the test results. 4 Test steps
.1 Heat the ingot furnace to a predetermined temperature and keep it constant, with an allowable error of ±2°C. 4.2 Place a container containing 1 gram of sample into the hole of the ingot furnace, cover it with a lid (the lid is pre-heated on the top of the furnace), and start the stopwatch.
4.3 Place the ignition flame 2 mm above the nozzle of the lid and shake it. If there is no (or there is) a flame on the nozzle for 5 seconds in the first 5 minutes, increase (or decrease) the temperature of the ingot furnace by 10°C each time, and retest with a new sample until the lowest temperature at which a flame appears on the nozzle for more than 5 seconds is measured, and record this temperature. 4.4 Make three samples at each predetermined temperature. If there are two samples without a flame for more than 5 seconds, increase the temperature of the ingot furnace by 10°C and make three more samples. If there are two samples with a flame for more than 5 seconds, round it off to a multiple of 10, which is the ignition temperature of the material. 4.5 When there is foaming and overflow in the determination of thermoplastics, the sample can be reduced to 0.5 grams. If there is still foaming, this method cannot be used for testing.
5 Test reportWww.bzxZ.net
