Summary:
This standard applies to complete filters for suppressing radio frequency interference used in equipment and complete machines connected to the mains power supply, where the rated voltage between the two conductors does not exceed 500V DC or AC RMS or the rated voltage between any one conductor and the ground does not exceed 250V DC or AC RMS, and the frequency does not exceed 100Hz. The scope of this standard also includes combinations of two or more filters in one housing. This standard is not necessarily fully suitable for filters used in automobiles, aircraft or ships. Additional requirements shall be specified in the detailed specifications of filters used in these occasions. Filters within the scope of this standard can also be used to protect equipment and complete machines from electrical noise and transient changes in voltage or current from the power supply or other parts of the equipment.
