Summary:
This standard applies to systems that encrypt ADP information in the physical layer of data communications. The body of this standard specifies requirements applicable to the use of various encryption algorithms. This standard specifies two optional modes of synchronous operation: delayed option and immediate option. These two modes are incompatible with each other. This standard also specifies two optional actions for asynchronous operation interruption (BREAK): Class A and Class B. These two actions are incompatible with each other.
