This standard is a classification and naming system based on the basic properties of carbon black, which is composed of letters and numbers. This standard applies to all carbon blacks used in rubber.

3.1 This classification and naming system consists of four symbols. The first symbol is a letter, which represents the effect of the carbon black on the vulcanization rate in the rubber compound; the next three symbols are Arabic numerals, the first numeral represents the particle size range of the carbon black, and the next two numerals are given arbitrarily.
3.1.1 The letter "N" refers to furnace carbon black with normal vulcanization rate, but does not include furnace carbon black modified to slow down the vulcanization rate; the letter \S\ represents channel carbon black, mixed carbon black and modified furnace carbon black with slow vulcanization rate. 3.1.2 The first numeral after the letter represents the average particle size of carbon black measured by electron microscopy. It is divided into 10 groups according to its particle size range and the group order is determined according to the specified range, as shown in Table 1. Table 1

5.1 Any new carbon black that is to be classified and named must be submitted by the production unit to the Carbon Black Standardization Technical Committee of the National Rubber and Rubber Products Standardization Technical Committee for application reports. 5.2 The application report must include the production process and technical conditions of the carbon black, typical performance quality and usage conditions. 5.3 With the approval of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Rubber and Rubber Products and the Carbon Black Standardization Technical Committee, the production unit shall submit the typical values tested by the following test methods:

3.1 This classification and naming system consists of four symbols. The first symbol is a letter, which represents the effect of the carbon black on the vulcanization rate in the rubber compound; the next three symbols are Arabic numerals, the first numeral represents the particle size range of the carbon black, and the next two numerals are given arbitrarily.
