Summary:
This standard includes methods for designing, preparing, loading, exposing and inspecting C-ring specimens for testing stress corrosion susceptibility of metals and alloys, and provides analysis of stress state and distribution of C-ring specimens. C-ring is a widely used and economical specimen for determining the stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of various metals, suitable for a variety of product forms including weldments. It is particularly suitable for testing tubes, bars and plates. Notched specimens can also be used.
