This standard specifies the general requirements for the working conditions, structural characteristics, general safety and testing of programmable controllers and their related peripherals. This standard specifies the definition of programmable controllers and their related peripherals in terms of device requirements and test verification. It specifies the test methods and steps that must be carried out for programmable controllers and related peripherals to adapt to the controlled machinery or process. It specifies the information that PC manufacturers need to provide. This standard applies to programmable controllers and their related peripherals (such as programming and debugging tools (PADT), test equipment (TE) and man-machine interface (MMIS), etc.). It applies to control systems composed of programmable controllers and their related peripherals. The devices covered by this standard are suitable for overvoltage type 2, used in machinery or industrial process control and ordinary low-voltage facilities with a rated power supply voltage not exceeding 1 000V (AC) (50/60Hz) or 1 500V (DC).
