This standard is a revision of GB/T-1639-1984 35mm motion picture optical soundtrack negative recording position and width dimensions based on [ISO70:1981 "Position and maximum width dimensions of soundtrack on monophonic 35mm motion picture optical soundtrack negative film"]. This standard is equivalent to ISO70:1981 in terms of technical content and writing rules. GB/T4639-1984 is formulated with reference to ISO70:1981. Considering that most films in China now use stereo sound, it is necessary to distinguish the standards used for monophonic and stereophonic optical sound films. With reference to IS(70:1981, the name of GB/T4639-1984 is changed to "35mm monophonic optical sound film track position and maximum width dimension". The parts of the original standard that were not rigorous enough are revised, for example, "the width dimension of the sound recording" is changed to "the maximum width dimension of the sound recording track". Considering that coded sound tracks are no longer used in China and abroad, the content related to coded sound tracks is deleted when revising the standard. This standard will replace GB/T1639-1984 from the date of its entry into force. This standard was issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
