This standard applies to the determination of water content in industrial stearic acid produced by pressing or distillation after hydrolysis of animal and vegetable fats. It is not applicable to fatty acids containing less than dodecanoic acid.
2 Apparatus
2.1 Constant temperature oven.
2.2 Weighing bottle 50mL, low type.
3 Test procedure
Accurately weigh about 10g of sample into a clean weighing bottle with constant weight, put it into a constant temperature oven at 105±1℃, remove the lid of the weighing bottle and dry it for 2h, then cover it, take it out and put it into a desiccator to cool for 30min before weighing. 4 Calculation of results
