Summary:
This standard specifies the method for determining the ash content in foods by the burning method. This standard is applicable to the determination of ash content in foods such as cereal foods, meat and poultry products, milk and dairy products, aquatic products, fruit and vegetable products, starch and starch products, egg products, tea, condiments, fermented products, etc.; it is not applicable to the determination of ash content in sugar and sugar products.
