0 Introduction
This standard is one of a series of standards that describe the parameters of the identification cards defined in Chapter 3 below and the identification cards used in international exchange. The recording technique and coded character set for track 3 of digital data are specified in GB/T15120.2. 1 Subject content and scope of application: This standard specifies the track location of read-write magnetic records (track 3) on identification cards using automatic data exchange. 2 Reference standards: GB/T14916 Physical characteristics of identification cards GB/T15120.2 Recording technology of identification cards Part 2: Magnetic stripes 3 Terminology The terminology of "identification cards" given in GB/T14916 applies to this standard. Position of magnetic material The magnetic material should be located in the area shown in Figure 1. Approved by the State Administration of Technical Supervision on July 16, 1994 3.1 Implementation on March 1, 1995 Position of coded data tracks GB/T15120.594 Nearest center edge Magnetic stripe area Position of Track 3 Magnetic Stripe Area
The 3rd track of encoded data shall extend between two lines 12.52mm and 15.32mm from the nearest parallel edge of the card, but the encoding (including the influence of edge effects) shall not extend beyond the line 12.01mm from the nearest parallel edge of the card, or beyond the line 15.82mm from the nearest parallel edge of the card (see Figure 2).
