Summary:
The fire classification specified in this standard is divided according to the characteristics of the material fuel, so electrical fires are not included in this standard as a separate type. This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO 3941-1977 "Fire Classification". This standard divides fires into four categories based on the characteristics of the material fuel. This classification method is of guiding significance for fire prevention and fire fighting, especially for the selection of fire extinguishers to fight fires. ISO3941—1997
The fire classification specified in this standard is based on the combustion characteristics of the material, so electrical fires are not included in this standard as a separate type. This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO3941-—1977 "Classification of Fire Extinguishment". 1 Scope of application
This standard divides fires into four categories based on the combustion characteristics of the material. This classification method is of guiding significance for fire prevention and fire fighting, especially for the selection of fire extinguishers to fight fires.
2 Names and definitions of fire classifications
The following names are used to classify fires of different natures and to simplify the description of fires based on this classification name. 2.1 Class A fire: refers to fires of solid materials, which often have the properties of organic matter and generally produce hot afterexplosions when burning. Such as wood, cotton, wool, linen, paper fires, etc. 2.2 Class B fire: refers to liquid fires and meltable solid material fires. Such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, crude oil, methanol, ethanol, asphalt, paraffin fires, etc.
2.3 Class C fire: refers to gas fires. Such as coal gas, natural gas, methane, ethane, propane, hydrogen fires, etc. 2.4 Class D fire: refers to metal fires. Such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, titanium, zirconium, lithium, aluminum-magnesium alloy fires, etc. Additional notes:
This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and is under the jurisdiction of the Tianjin Fire Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security. This standard was drafted by the Tianjin Fire Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security. The main drafter of this standard is Bai Ruizeng.
