Summary:
This standard specifies a set of rules that must be followed when designing and technically reviewing EDIFACT messages and message components. It is intended to establish a consistent and objective basis for designing messages that comply with EDIFACT application-level syntax rules, version 1, 2, 3, and 4. Since dependency comments and repeated data are new concepts introduced in version 4 of the syntax rules, they are only applicable to messages designed to comply with version 4 of the syntax rules.
