This standard specifies the atmospheric conditions in the laboratory and the sample conditioning time during the physical and mechanical properties test of fishing gear materials. This standard applies to fishing gear materials such as synthetic fibers and nets and nets made of them. This standard does not apply to ropes and natural fibers and their products.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 2.1
Hygroscopicity
The property of fiber materials and their products to absorb and release water vapor in the air. [SC/T5001—1995, definition 19]
Conditioning
The process of placing the sample in a certain atmospheric condition to stabilize the thermal motion of the molecules of the object and to make the absorption and release of moisture close to the dynamic equilibrium state. 3 Requirements
3.1 The atmospheric conditions for testing hygroscopic materials such as polyamide (nylon) and vinyl alcohol (vinylon) are given in Table 1. 1
