This standard is specially formulated to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and the Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, to prevent and control marine sediment pollution, protect marine biological resources and other marine resources, and be conducive to the sustainable use of marine resources, maintain marine ecological balance, and protect human health.
This standard is proposed by the State Oceanic Administration and is responsible for its interpretation. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Marine Standards and Metrology Center. 3 Marine Sediment Quality Classification and Indicators
3.1 Marine Sediment Quality Classification
According to the different use functions of the sea area and the environmental protection goals, the quality of marine sediments is divided into three categories. The first category is applicable to marine fishery waters, marine nature reserves, rare and endangered biological nature reserves, marine aquaculture areas, bathing beaches, marine sports or entertainment areas where the human body directly contacts sediments, and industrial water areas directly related to human consumption. The second category is applicable to general industrial water use areas and coastal scenic tourist areas. The third category is applicable to marine port waters and special marine development operation areas. 3.2 Marine Sediment Quality Classification Indicators

1) Except for coliform bacteria, fecal coliform bacteria and pathogens, the remaining numerical measurement items (serial numbers 6 to 18) are all calculated based on the weight below. 2) For shellfish culture substrates for human consumption, the requirement for coliform bacteria (individuals/g weight) is ≤14. 3) For shellfish culture substrates for human consumption, the requirement for intestinal bacteria (individuals/g weight) is ≤3. 4 Determination of marine sediment quality
4.1 The collection, pretreatment, preparation and preservation of marine sediment samples shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of GB 17378.5. Category III
4.2 The determination of each item in this standard shall be carried out in accordance with the analytical methods in Table 2. Except for the determination method of coliform bacteria and fecal coliform bacteria, which refers to the standard GB 17378.7, and the determination method of pathogens, which refers to the standard GBJ 48, the determination methods of other items all refer to the standard GB 17378.5.
